Stop carrying other people's debts
Overdue receivables are an interest-free loan to your customers, funded by you. Here is how to decide when to escalate, what lodging a debt with us involves, and what you will see once we start.
When to escalate
Day 1–30: friendly reminder
Most late payers respond to a clear statement and a polite call. Do this yourself, consistently.
Day 30–60: formal demand
A letter of demand from an agency signals escalation without a legal threat you may not follow through on.
Day 60–120: active collection
Structured phone, email and letter contact with the decision-maker, negotiation, and documented plans.
Day 120+: decision point
Legal recovery if the evidence and the debtor's capacity justify it; otherwise a negotiated settlement or an informed write-off.
What to send us
- Invoices and statements
- Terms of trade, contract or credit application
- Any personal guarantee
- Proof of delivery or completion
- Emails, messages and call notes about the debt
- Debtor details: entity name, ABN, addresses, contacts
What you see
We keep you updated on each account: letters sent, calls made and their outcome, promises recorded, payments received and remittances issued. You approve settlements and plans that fall outside the rules you set, and you can lodge new debts any time.
Frequently asked questions
How does Infexcel Recoveries charge?
For most collection matters we work on a commission basis: a percentage of what is actually recovered, agreed with you before we start. Some services such as letters of demand and legal preparation are quoted as fixed fees. There are no hidden charges and nothing is billed without your prior agreement.
What happens to the money once the debtor pays?
Payments are receipted against the account and remitted to you on an agreed cycle with a statement that shows every receipt, our commission and the net amount.
Will you damage my relationship with the customer?
Our approach is firm on the money and professional in tone. We are clear with debtors that paying resolves the matter, and many creditors continue to trade with the same customer afterwards.
Do you comply with Australian debt collection rules?
Our contact practices are based on the ACCC and ASIC Debt collection guideline for collectors and creditors, the Australian Consumer Law and the Privacy Act, including rules on contact hours, frequency, privacy and hardship.
How quickly do you start?
Once we have your documents and signed instructions and have completed our checks, we aim to contact the debtor promptly. We will tell you the expected timing when we accept the account.
Can I track progress?
Yes. We report regularly on every account: letters sent, calls made, promises and payments. Online client access is being prepared and will be offered once it is ready.
What if the debtor cannot be found?
We work from the details on your file, information the debtor provides and public registers to confirm current contact details before recovery continues. Tell us what you know and we will advise on next steps.
Do you handle debts anywhere in Australia?
Yes. We are based in Melbourne and recover debts across every state and territory, coordinating with local legal practitioners when court action is required.
Ready to recover what you are owed?
Tell us about the debt and a recovery specialist will assess it free of charge, aiming to reply within one business day.
